After Usman Khawaja announced his retirement from international cricket, Steve Smith gave an explanation regarding his retirement.

During a press conference in Sydney, Steve Smith reminisced and said that when he first played against Usman Khawaja at a young age, he knew that he would become a great player.

Smith praised Khawaja's 'brilliant career' and said that he expects to participate in his last Test match.

He appreciated Khawaja's excellent performance against Pakistan in 2018.
